That’s probably why you’re here, right? You are looking for clarity in your work and/or personal life and trying to find the right person to get you there. Someone who gets it. Not the same old assessments and tiresome Zoom check-ins, something different. Well, you have come to the right place.

I get what it takes to make any change; to say to yourself, “I want something different,” over and over; and it’s hard to take the first step, to know what to do, who to talk with.

I want to start out and tell you a little more about my path. How I got here, to a place where I can be the person that brings out the best leader, and human in you. I’m hoping that by sharing my wins and challenges you can relate and feel comfortable to share yours with me when the time comes.

My journey to becoming a coach was anything but a straight path- here’s my unconventional story with lots of change…

I was born in Birmingham, Alabama to a mother, who was an artist, and a father who was a small business owner, politician, diplomat and public servant.  I’d say I inherited both sets of genes and certainly approach most things in life as both an art and a science, with a results oriented approach.

An early trauma opened me up to adversity and a willingness to take risks.

While my time in the South made me fond of tradition, my move to Boston was where I learned the art of directness in communication. I spent 12 years there earning both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Communications. While in Boston, worked for a large HMO during a time of merger, then as a Corporate Training Manager for a start up.

I then moved to the Pacific Northwest, where I became immersed in the world of social justice, gave birth to my girls and went through a divorce. I also worked as Leadership Training Specialist for 4 years for an Airline, facilitating leader groups from VP’s to Front Line leaders. Then, went out on my own, partnering with established firms in Outplacement, Employee Assistance Program and Executive Coaching. I joined Right Management as a Leader Coach, working on long term engagements with Cisco, eBay & Paypal.

Like I said, lots of change.

Feeling worlds away from where I had been and wanting to take coaching to a more experienced level, I  embarked on a rigorous PCC-level coaching certification from Teleos Leadership Institute,  a recognized leader in emotional intelligence and created Making the Connection to live out the  passion and talent I have for bringing out the best in others.

My training, education, and life experience is grounded in Emotion Coaching: working with our and others’ emotions and feelings in a very imperfect world. I have the unique ability to empathize with the uncomfortable feelings and emotions inherent in any interaction or change, large or small AND developing PRACTICAL solutions that stick.

It is my belief we all have the ability to achieve our greatest goals & wishes. We just need the support of those who bring out the best in us, and give us the perspective we are unable to see.

Making the Connection was created to be a conduit of transformation and progress for all of those seeking to invest in themselves and their future.
